The Why
Project Overview:
A book that highlights the lives and inventions of 12 black American inventors. Patents for each inventor are listed with very basic information about their life as well as Illustrations that I created.

(1) Title Sketches (2) Page Layout Development (3) Page Layout Final Sketch

The What
Deliverables:
A book (9 inches by 6 inches with a .125 in bleed around) with two hues,
burnt orange and black.

These are the draft covers. I debated over having a general title and a title that included the number of inventors in the book.
The idea of inventors, showing their patents and giving a brief history of their lives is what I want the reader to focused on.

The Wh0
Primary Audience:
A general public that is unaware of inventions by blacks in America.book that highlights the lives and inventions of 12 black American inventors. Patents for each inventor are listed with very basic information about their life as well as Illustrations that I created.

(1) Original Page Layout (very text heavy) (2) Update Page Layout (using images I wanted to create a more efficient visual composition
(3) The Final Page Layout (a patent, a sepia-tone image of the inventor and illustration of the inventor help to elevated the composition and creates more cohesiveness with the text).
